Job Description



The Human Resources Specialist for Real Estate is responsible for managing the HR functions within a real estate company or property management firm. The role involves overseeing recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and performance management, while aligning HR strategies with the company's real estate operations and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment & Staffing:

    • Lead recruitment efforts for various positions within the real estate sector, including property managers, leasing agents, brokers, maintenance staff, and administrative roles.
    • Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and manage full-cycle recruiting, from job postings to onboarding.
    • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for key roles, particularly for real estate-specific positions.
  2. Employee Onboarding:

    • Coordinate and execute the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they are trained on company culture, policies, and real estate regulations.
    • Provide orientation on job-specific tasks, including property management, tenant relations, and real estate laws.
  3. Employee Relations:

    • Serve as a primary contact for employees, handling any workplace issues, concerns, or grievances in accordance with company policies.
    • Promote a positive work environment by encouraging open communication and addressing conflicts that arise.
    • Advise on real estate-specific legal matters, ensuring compliance with housing laws, labor laws, and company policies.
  4. Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with employment laws, real estate regulations, fair housing standards, and safety protocols.
    • Stay updated on industry standards and regulations to ensure the company adheres to legal requirements (e.g., property leasing laws, safety protocols).
    • Manage employee records, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
  5. Training & Development:

    • Design and deliver training programs tailored to the real estate industry, covering topics such as tenant law, property management, customer service, and legal compliance.
    • Track employee development and career growth, ensuring the organization’s talent is well-equipped to meet business needs.
    • Provide professional development resources for real estate agents, property managers, and other staff.
  6. Compensation & Benefits:

    • Administer compensation and benefits programs for real estate professionals, ensuring competitive salary structures and commission-based incentives.
    • Oversee employee benefit plans, including health insurance, retirement savings, and other offerings.
    • Evaluate and adjust compensation strategies based on industry trends, location, and performance.
  7. Performance Management:

    • Manage the performance appraisal process for employees, establishing goals and offering feedback on performance in line with real estate goals.
    • Work with managers to implement development plans for underperforming employees, with a focus on increasing efficiency in real estate operations.
  8. Health, Safety & Wellness:

    • Oversee workplace safety initiatives, particularly for employees working on real estate sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA or other relevant safety regulations.
    • Promote employee wellness programs and ensure that the physical working environment is conducive to health and safety.
  9. HR Technology & Reporting:

    • Utilize HR software tools to manage employee records, track performance, and monitor compliance.
    • Generate HR reports for senior leadership, providing insights on staffing, retention rates, and employee satisfaction within the real estate context.
  10. Organizational Development:

    • Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR practices with the strategic goals of the real estate company.
    • Participate in company-wide initiatives such as expansion into new markets, project launches, or other strategic growth plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2-4 years of experience in HR, with preference for experience in the real estate industry (property management, real estate sales, etc.).
    • Familiarity with local and national real estate laws and industry regulations.
    • Experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of real estate industry-specific regulations, such as Fair Housing, zoning laws, and tenant rights.
    • Ability to adapt HR practices to a dynamic real estate environment.
    • Proficiency with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), payroll systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
